Hands that feel. Hands that remember

2025
Duration 30 min

About the study of the remains of dance in the body, because due to various life events and stress, the body seems to forget what it is like to move freely, how it is to be free. Finding a place in the body where dance exists, building this own dance by paying attention to children's play, learning through touch, building and destroying movement patterns, and finally - a personal choice whether to stay in a safe inert body or give yourself to movement.

The work uses an element of the game with a thread "Cat's Cradle". This traditional game in many cultures, including indigenous communities of North America, Japan and Europe, involves creating complex patterns using loops and transferring them between the hands of the players in a certain sequence. The game is often played by two or more people, but some versions can be played alone. Which is what happens during the performance. It was like a transformation of the forgotten into the new.

Presented as part of the work-in-progress contemporary dance laboratory at the Mercury Intellectual Art Center, Lviv, Ukraine
